Last night was spent with his family at a 5 star hotel’s restaurant for dinner. We were celebrating their parent’s Ruby Anniversary - and what fun it was. We started off with drinks at the bar. Glass of champange? Yes please! During dinner, we each had about three drinks… a glass of wine, our starting drink and a glass of water. Mostly everyone had delicious smoked salmon to start, but I decided to go healthy and have a spring mix salad meant to have a citrus vinaigrette dressing… but it pretty much just tasted like I was eating spoonfulls of salt.

But it didn’t matter, my sirloin steak served with roasted potatoes and steamed asparagus was absolutely delicious and more than made up for the lacking starter. Dessert was even more delicious but no one could really finish any of it. Lots of drinks & laughter and 4.5 hours later, we eventually left the private room they had us in and walked through a near empty restaurant. We tried the bar, but they had stopped serving… so we wandered a few minutes down the street but they had also stopped serving.  And it was a good thing because one of his sisters really shouldn’t have had any more to drink… so we sent them off in a taxi and he and I got into another taxi so I could go home.

When we got back to my place, no one was home and the sweetheart decided to stay with me even though I’m sure he knew that one of my flatmates would be home later. He just left to walk home because he has a golf game this morning… but later this afternoon we’re going to celebrate Canada day in a dingy pub in town. Can’t wait!

I have absolutely nothing constructive to say (for a change) so instead, see here - http://blog.rymus.net/2007/07/08/8-more-reasons/ , copy, paste, rinse and repeat. Don’t say I ever let people get bored at work!
